The Engineering Manager provides leadership to a team of Designers, Engineers, and Draftspeople, setting the department work schedule and assigning work to meet PERI’s customers needs. The Engineering Manager has ultimate design responsibility, supervising design efforts, authentication of drawings and design related documents (if qualified) or managing others (internally and/or externally) who have that responsibility. Your leadership will be essential in ensuring successful project outcomes and maintaining high standards of excellence.
What you'll do on a typical day:

Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of talented engineers by fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and growth.

Develop formwork, shoring and scaffolding solutions for various kinds of building and infrastructure construction projects.

Issues requests for quotations (RFQs) for, and evaluate external engineering quotes for, larger projects.

Work closely with customers to delivery tailored, high-quality solutions.

Assign responsibility for tasks and decisions, set clear objectives and measures, monitor progress and results.

Review and approve drawings and calculations, delegate approval authority to local checkers/approvers, and authenticate drawings or arrange for drawings to be authenticated.

Drive efficiency, innovation and continuous improvement.

Optimize processes to enhance performance and productivity.

Contribute as a member of the National Engineering Management team.

Other related duties as assigned.
What you'll need to be successful:
-
A degree in Civil Engineering or applicable work experience required.

8+ years’ experience in Structural Engineering and/ or Construction, with at least 3 years in a leadership capacity. The candidate is expected to exhibit the following leadership competencies: building effective teams, composure, conflict management, delegation, drive for results, interpersonal savvy, managing and measuring work, managing diversity, motivating others and self-development.

Strong leadership experience in engineering or technical management. Demonstrated ability to drive process improvement through coaching, developing, engaging and retaining employees.

A customer-centric mindset with a passion for problem solving.

Ability to streamline operations and improve efficiency. A drive for continuous improvement and innovation.

Excellent communication and team-building skills.

Extensive understanding of Canadian and Provincial Building Standards and Codes; understanding of European standards, relevant to formwork and/or scaffolding.

Advanced written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work with CAD is an asset.

Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle required.
