Team Leader

Scope of Position:
We are seeking a results-driven and hands-on Team Leader to oversee day-to-day yard operations. This role will play a key part in maintaining productivity and efficiency, while fostering a safe, organized, and high-performing work environment. The Team Leader will be responsible for ensuring that Shipping, Receiving, Repairs, and Quality Checks are executed accurately and in alignment with company targets. The Team Leader collaborates closely with management to plan and coordinate daily activities, ensuring alignment with PERI’s overall goals and vision.
What you'll do on a typical day:
Operational Oversight:
- Lead the team and monitor daily workflows to ensure operational goals and deadlines are met.
- Ensure quality standards are achieved for both materials and processes.
- Optimize the use of labour, equipment, and materials to maximize efficiency and productivity.
- Identify improvement opportunities such as process, procedure, documentation, and personnel.
- Ensure inventory accuracy is maintained at a high level by performing regular inventory checks and addressing discrepancies as needed.
- Lead and mentor team members, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence in customer service.
- Track attendance and ensure payroll duties are completed on a weekly basis (UKG).
- Assist with recruiting, hiring, and training new team members.
Health & Safety:
- Apply a thorough understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and company safety policies to promote and maintain a safe work environment.
- Ensure that employees adhere to Health & Safety policies/procedures.
- Identify and establish proper control measures for possible workplace hazards.
- Ensure employees are trained on all applicable equipment.
- Ensure regular safety talks, toolbox meetings and training sessions are being conducted.
- Ensure regular workplace inspections are completed.
- Assist with incident, accident, and near miss investigations.
What you'll need to be successful:
- Post-secondary education (College diploma, University degree) or equivalent experience.
- 2 years of experience in a supervisory role.
- Previous experience working in an outdoor yard environment is an asset.
- Previous experience operating a diesel-powered counterbalance forklift is an asset.
- Experience in logistical coordination and/or inventory management.
- Dedication to promoting and maintaining the highest standard of workplace Health & Safety.
- Practical knowledge of employment standards and Health & Safety standards.
