Scope of Position:

We are seeking a results-driven and hands-on Team Leader to oversee day-to-day yard operations. In this role, you will play a key part in maintaining productivity and efficiency while fostering a safe, organized, and high-performing work environment. You will be responsible for ensuring that Shipping, Receiving, Repairs, and Quality Checks are executed accurately and in alignment with company targets. The Team Leader collaborates closely with management to plan and coordinate daily activities, ensuring alignment with PERI’s overall goals and vision.

What you'll do on a typical day:

Operational Oversight:

  • Leading the team and monitoring daily workflows to ensure operational goals and deadlines are met.
  • Ensuring overall quality assurance standards are achieved for both materials and processes.
  • Optimizing labor, equipment, and material resources efficiently.
  • Identifying improvement opportunities such as process, procedure, documentation, and personnel.
  • Ensuring inventory accuracy is maintained at a high level by performing regular inventory checks and addressing discrepancies as needed.
  • Coaching, leading, and managing  team members to be consistent with an exceptional level of customer service.
  • Tracking attendance and ensuring payroll duties are completed on a weekly basis (UKG).
  • Assisting with recruiting, hiring, and training new team members.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Health & Safety:

  • Applying a solid understanding of the Occupational Health & Safety Act to support and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Ensuring that employees adhere to Health & Safety policies/procedures.
  • Identifying and establishing proper control measures for possible workplace hazards.
  • Ensuring employees are trained on all applicable equipment.
  • Ensuring regular safety talks, toolbox meetings and training sessions are being conducted.
  • Ensuring regular workplace inspections are completed.
  • Assisting with incident / accident / near miss investigations.

What you'll need to be successful:

  • Post-secondary education (College diploma, University degree) or equivalent experience.
  • 2  years’ experience in a supervisory role.
  • Previous experience working in an outdoor yard environment is an asset.
  • Previous experience operating a diesel-powered counterbalance forklift is an asset.
  • Experience in logistical coordination and/or inventory management.
  • Dedication to promoting and maintaining the highest standard of workplace health and safety.
  • Practical knowledge of employment standards and health and safety standards.
  • Strong leadership capabilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Superior time management and organizational abilities.
  • The ability to function effectively in a dynamic, diverse, and fast-paced environment.
  • The flexibility to work equally well in a team environment and independently.
  • The skill to both receive direction and delegate effectively.
