What you'll do on a typical day:

  • Directly interface with customers to understand customer’s needs
  • Interact with PERI’s Technical Sales Consultants to provide the most cost-effective design solutions 
  • Develop formwork, shoring and scaffolding solutions for various kinds of construction projects
  • Work closely with design professionals (e.g. internal & external stamping engineers) to ensure the designs meet national and local standards (e.g. CSA, OHSA, and National and Provincial Building Codes)
  • Understand customer’s structural and architectural drawings, and interpret PERI’s involvement
  • Exhibit the knowledge and design skills associated with an experienced design professional
  • Perform and document design calculations, including the use of in-house structural analysis software, to ensure safe and economical designs
  • Create general arrangement, assembly, and steel fabrication drawings
  • Provide concepts and design direction to Engineering Interns, Draft’s people, and Designers
  • Adhere to engineering procedures as set out in the Quality Management System
  • Follow PERI design and drafting guidelines and standards
  • Create material lists
  • Check material lists done by others
  • Create engineering-related documents, such as transmittals, site visit reports & customer meeting reports
  • Create DWF drawings in order to share a 3D model with customers for viewing on other platforms 
  • Review and approve designs of more junior team members (as experience dictates)
  • Adhere to the work schedule to ensure work is completed on time and under budget 
  • Maintain data in the Engineering Logbook to ensure project details are captured and invoicing of Engineering is organized 
  • Mentor, assist and instruct Engineering Interns, Draft’s people and more junior Designers 
  • Visit job sites and provide technical support when required
  • Participate in Training / E-Learning / Certification as assigned 
  • Model PERI’s values, success factors and leadership principles

  • Report hazards and accidents
  • Take care of your health and safety and that of the others
  • Other related duties as assigned

What you'll need to be successful:

 Education and Qualifications 

  • A degree in Civil Engineering, a diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, or relative industry experience / education
  • 3-5 plus years of experience in structural engineering and construction
  • 5 plus year at a Senior Technical Level position
  • 1 plus year of experience using AutoCAD
  • Experience using structural analysis software 
  • Formwork design experience: scaffolding design experience is an asset
  • Good understanding of structural and architectural drawings, as well as construction sequencing
  • Understanding of Canadian and Provincial Building Standards and Codes; basic understanding of European standards, relevant to formwork and/or scaffolding, is an asset 
  • PERI product knowledge 
  • Bilingual (English and French), is an asset 
  • Vehicle and valid driver’s license required

  • Ability to work with Revit is an asset 

Working Conditions

  • 8-hour workday
  • Operates computer and peripherals
  • Works in an office / home office environment
  • Sits/stands at a desk for extended periods
  • Travels to customer job sites and offices, as required 
  • Travels nationally for training or meetings, as required
  • Overtime eligible

  • $66,600 to $71,500
