Draftsperson

Scope of Position:

The main purpose of PERI's Draftsperson (DRAE) position is work closely with Engineers and Designers to provide design and drafting support across a variety of projects. In addition, it is the responsibility of the DRAE position to prepare complex CAD drawings that meet project-specific requirements.

Drawings are developed from notes, sketches, technical guides, and other relevant sources, ensuring all deliverables align with project and product specifications. This position contributes to meaningful construction projects by supporting the development, coordination, and integration of technical drawings throughout the project lifecycle.

What you'll do on a typical day:

• Adapt and clean up customer-supplied drawings for PERI design use.
• Import and prepare 3D models for use in AutoCAD and PERI CAD tools.
• Redraw structural elements, including sections and details, as required.
• Produce general arrangement, assembly, and steel fabrication drawings under the direction of an Engineer or Designer.
• Support the development of formwork, shoring, and scaffolding designs under supervision.
• Collaborate with internal and external engineers to ensure compliance with CSA, OHSA, and national/provincial building codes.
• Generate accurate material lists and maintain engineering documentation.
• Follow drafting and engineering procedures defined in the Quality Management System (QMS) and Professional Practice Management Plan (PPMP).
• Other related duties as assigned.

What you'll need to be successful:

• Diploma in Civil Engineering Technician or Technology program.
• Minimum 2 years of experience using AutoCAD.
• Drafting experience in formwork and/or scaffolding is an asset.
• Experience in the construction industry, particularly with concrete and structural steel, is an asset.
• Basic understanding of structural and architectural drawings and construction sequencing.
• Familiarity with PERI products is an asset.
• Bilingual (English/French) is an asset.
• Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle may be required.
