Yard Supervisor

Role Summary:
There is an exciting new opportunity for a Yard Supervisor based in Cape Town.
Effectively manage all aspects of Stock Yard in order meet Operations Manager's goals to achieve superior Customer service and excellent stock utilisation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure that Customers are dealt with professionally and efficiently in the yard regarding deliveries, collection, stock related queries keeping the Operations Manager informed.
- To ensure that all internal staff in all processes are informed as required, clear communication.
- Manage performance of yard staff, including yard and temporary labour, using "corrective progressive" discipline as required by Labour Law obtaining assistance from the Operations Manager and HR when needed.
- Deal professionally with Sales and Admin team and assist with queries.
- To utilise stock optimally and ensure minimal stock losses through efficient stock control management in conjunction with Operations Manager and Demand Planner.
- Ensure stock availability for Customers with regard to Cleaning & Repair timeously to ensure availability for Customers.
- Check and monitor damaged hire goods returned and keep records and proof by means of the care program keep own Manager informed.
- Ensure correct documentation and pricing on outsources transport, cross-hires, etc. keeping own Manager informed timeously.
- Efficiently manage operating expenses, including purchasing for operational maintenance in collaboration with Operations Manager.
- Manage Stock Yard assets, minimize risk and ensure good housekeeping. Includes ensuring the issuing of normal H&S PPE. Comply with Health & Safety regulations and manage risk with 16.2.
- To control time and attendance (ensuring that overtime is kept to an absolute minimum) of staff and submission of required information and leave authorisations to Payroll for payment of salaries.
- To implement work schedules and operational plans as per goals set by Operations Manager to achieve Company strategies, keeping daily production records up to date.
- To follow Cleaning & Repair Policies and Procedures to be followed by Yard/Operations management to ensure maintenance of PERI product to be carried out to specific standards as per PERI handbook and Rental criteria.
- Implement and monitor quality assurance.
- Ensure that operation systems and technology are properly utilized and well maintained.
- Effectively manage transport and outsources distributions logistics in conjunction with the Regional Demand and Transport Planner, keeping Operations Manager informed.
- To ensure proper maintenance of all equipment such as forklifts and ensure that operator licenses are valid.
- To do regular cycle counts and manage Stock Takes.
Qualification and experience required:
- Semi-Skilled in welding / electrical / fitter / turner / boiler making/ technical qualification or minimum 3 years of relevant work experience
