Principal Engineer - Analysis Civil and Infrastructure

PERI is currently looking for a Principal Engineer – Analysis - Civil and Infrastructure to join our team. The primary role of the Principal Engineer – Analysis - Civil and Infrastructure is to provide support to the Civil and Infrastructure team. Collaborating closely with the Director of Engineering - Civil and Infrastructure and the Engineering Managers for Civil and Infrastructure and Statics and Analysis. The Principal Engineer - Analysis is responsible for conducting meticulous calculations and analysis during the pre-sales, bid, and proposal stages of major and complex projects. Throughout the execution phase, this role performs specialized analysis tasks with assistance from the Civil and Infrastructure team. Leveraging PERI's resources, the Principal Engineer - Analysis ensures the structural integrity and safety of proposed designs while striving to optimize cost-effectiveness and commercial success. Additionally, the role is to maintain the quality and professionalism of work output, as well as developing tools, processes, and resources to continually enhance support capabilities.

What you'll do on a typical day:

  • Create calculations and simulations to provide guidance for system and component selection during the pre-sales phase.
  • Ensure confidence in the structural integrity and compliance of proposed solutions.
  • Execute detailed analysis of complex project solutions, to provide confirmation, make recommendations where necessary and assure acceptance by the customer(s)
  • Verify that bids and proposal solutions meet capacity and compliance requirements.
  • Provide look-see loads, reactions, moment calculations to support solution proposals.
  • Adhere to company processes and procedures to secure customer acceptance of PERI solutions.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure clear understanding of project scope and schedule.
  • Design and calculate proposed solutions to align with project goals and ensure profitability for PERI USA.
  • Collaborate with engineers and designers to ensure the quality and accuracy of detailed assembly drawings for both customers and internal assembly functions, including associated material lists.
  • Establish project plans and ensure continuous monitoring of progress, while tracking and closing out any open issues.
  • Ensure that work undergoes thorough quality checks for completeness and quality.
  • Ensure that all work adheres to US and PERI engineering standards.
  • Perform core functions of a Senior Engineer.
  • Comply with construction safety requirements when on a job site or in a PERI yard.

What you'll need to be successful:

  • Advanced structural engineering and analysis knowledge
  • Ability to demonstrate proficiency in using analysis methods and tools like RSTAB, MathWorks, FEA, Hand Calcs, and FMEA.
  • Experience with construction industry applications.
  • Ability to be a creative and strategic thinker with excellent interpersonal skills, able to communicate effectively across all organizational levels.  
  • Ability to exhibit strong attention to detail, organizational skills and problem-solving abilities.
  • Project management expertise, capable of managing schedules and implementing process improvements.
  • A goal-oriented mind-set with an entrepreneurial spirit, self-motivated, and resilient.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with customers and colleagues, understanding cause and effect across departments.
  • Ability to exhibit a high level of emotional intelligence.
  • Exceptional presenter with the ability to influence decisions and build trust.
  • Able to demonstrate the ability to work both independently and in teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to excel in accurately analyzing situations and making informed decisions.
  • A Master's degree in Civil, Structural or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Advanced knowledge of engineering analysis tools and processes.
