Welder

What you'll do on a typical day:

• Set up and prepare the MIG welder equipment  
• Clamp, grind, tack-weld or bolt components into position prior to welding 
• Weld small, medium and large pieces of steel or aluminum formwork and scaffolding components 
• Ensure the completed weld is free of impurities and meets the quality and safety standards 
• Repair and troubleshoot welding equipment, as required  
• Removing, repairing and replacing basic components using a variety of hand and power tools:    
• Hand tools may include hammers, chisels, screw drivers, spanners and pliers   
• Power hand tools may include drills, saws, grinders, routers and rivet guns    
• Complete equipment and fluid level inspections and testing on a daily basis prior to welding 
• Accurately logging service work records    
• Actively participating in the cycle counts’ and inventory processes   
• Maintaining an exceptional attendance record with consistent emphasis on punctuality    
• Participating in all group health and safety meetings    
• Demonstrating a strong commitment to safety    
• Complying with all PERI policies and procedures, and provincial health and safety standards, at all times    

What you'll need to be successful:

• Excellent organizational and time management abilities  
• Ability to work in teams and/or independently  
• Dedication to promoting and maintaining the highest standard of workplace health and safety    
• Certified Welder Certificate (CW) or equivalent 
• 2-3 years of apprenticeship experience 
• Minimum of 2-3 years of welding experience with steel and aluminum 
• At least 2 years of Mig Welding experience 
• Tig welding experience is considered as an asset 
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints with welding symbols would be considered an asset
